Textile Talents Contest: the prizegiving will be at Lineapelle
The contest for young designers promoted by Schmid enters the home run. The creations of the best students of the three participating schools (from Milan, London and Saint Petersburg) will be chosen in September
Young fashion talents, it will soon be your turn. Indeed, in September will be held the anticipated award ceremony of the Textile Talents Contest, conceived and fostered by Schmid. The event will be in Milan, from the 20th to the 22nd of September (during the fashion week), in a space purposely created at Lineapelle, the main Italian trade show for fashion accessories.
Three leading fashion and design schools will take part this year in the international competition: the London College of Fashion, the Art Future School of Design of Saint Petersburg and l’Accademia del Lusso of Milan.
«To be lazy, repetitive and a copycat is no longer accepted in any sector, even more so in fashion, that travels at twice the speed of the rest of the world, always looking ahead because of manufacturing constraints,” explains the company CEO Paolo Ciccarelli. “For this reason we wanted to create a direct communication channel with the young talents of our world, by linking up with fashion and design schools.”
With materials made available by Schmid, students are prompted to express their creativity by producing garments and accessories. The best ones will have the opportunity to present their works in one of the most prestigious venues of the fashion system: Lineapelle. In the space where the award ceremony will be held, there will be an exhibition, where the numerous visitors of the Milanese trade show will be able to admire and photograph the selected items.
The winners, who will obtain cash prizes and the opportunity of an internship with Schmid, will be chosen in September by a jury composed of top-notch industry experts and players. The panel includes Mario Boselli (honorary president of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the Italian fashion chamber, and knight of the Order of Merit for Labour), a representative of Lineapelle, a specialised journalist, a designer and a leading manufacturer. An extra reason to meet up at Lineapelle.
