Schmid’s “tailor made” service
Design, creation and production of new products: Schmid at the service of its clients’ ideas
Schmid remains commited to proposing innovative products and services to its clients and commercial partners. As part of this policy, the group has integrated and developed its “tailor made” service to produce materials and special finishings based on the ideas and requests of its clients.
Thanks to a dedicated team, Schmid is now capable of offering an exclusive collaboration with its clients, reviewing and combining different materials and inventing new exclusive finishings based on their needs. “It’s a complex task, that involves a lot of resources and energy, but which is compensated by the satisfaction of seeing ones materials become popular items in the shop windows of leading brands. For example, thanks to the collaboration with Marc Jacobs we developed a glitter PU,” explains Elena Marradi, head of research for Schmid.
But there are other examples of “tailor made” collaborations.
A glitter print with a baroque design on cotton canvas
Among recent creations, made exclusively for an important French fashion house, is a glitter application that combines innovation and craftsmanship. It is an interpretation on cotton fabric of a baroque pattern that emphasizes and contrasts with the natural fibre of the support.
A corrosive print on a cotton drill with a glitter overprint
By studying and blending different techniques, Schmid created – for a famous Italian fashion house – unique materials that combine traditional lining cotton fabrics with sophisticated processings to enhance them.
