Kick-off for Schmid’s Textile Talents Contest
The project dedicated to the students of fashion schools is about to start. It is a great opportunity for young designers to demonstrate their abilities and showcase themselves to experts of the fashion system
Calling all young talents of the world of design! Schmid’s Textile Talents Contest, presented to international fashion schools in February at the Lineapelle trade fair, is about to begin. The project will start in the coming days with the delivery to the schools of the material and fabrics that have made Schmid’s fame: mesh, satin, vinyl, glitter and much more.
An international contest
For the time being, three schools are taking part in the contest: the London College of Fashion, the School of design ArtFuture of Saint Petersburg, and the Mexican school Iteso, Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara. Each school can involve more than one class and up to 20 students. The young designers can choose, among the material proposed by Schmid, the most suitable products for their creations. The best three projects of each school will be examined in a final round by a jury comprising journalists and experts of the industry.
Room for the designers of the future
As highlighted by Schmid’s chairman and chief executive Paolo Ciccarelli «we greatly believe in young people and their abilities. For this reason we want to give them the opportunity to showcase their talent in an international contest. The creations will be photographed and examined by people who work every day in our world, and the designers, if they wish, will have the opportunity to exhibit and sell their creations through Schmid’s website».
A contest full of opportunities
The opportunities for the winners of the Textile talent contest do not end there. The winners will be invited to present their projects at an awards ceremony held during one of Milan’s fashion events in 2016. They will also receive prize money and the opportunity to do an internship with the company. «It’s an important initiative for us», explains Paolo Ciccarelli. «Indeed, through this contest we can create a stronger bond with the fashion schools and who will be the future actors of the fashion industry».
Registrations for the contest are still open. For further information please contact Melissa D’innella(m.dinnella@schmid.it). A specific website entirely dedicated to the contest is now available, to remain fully updated about the event and the initiatives underway.
