Fashionable fabrics: Schmid’s Soft Lurex widens it colour range
Five new tones, ranging from bronze to red, for a material considered a cult item this season. Here’s what’s new.
Shiny and metallic. Lurex is a yarn introduced on the market in the 1940s and became very popular from the 70s. Benefiting from a strong appeal among fashion houses, Soft Lurex Schmid rapidly rose to being one of the best selling fabrics. It has been chosen by clients for accessories, footwear, handbags and numerous haute couture items.
So the company decided to increase its offer.
The colour chart is increased
Schmid has always taken into account the requests of its clients, hence the introduction of five new tones, increasing to 11 the number of colours available.
Bronze, red, ice white, pearl white and black anthracite are the new colours of Soft Lurex Schmid.
Soft Lurex’s advantages
An extremely eye-catching fabric, its structure makes it resistant and ductile. The fashion houses appreciate its glamourous side, without neglecting it’s wearability. Soft Lurex Schmid has been chosen by many brands for the autumn/winter 2016/2017 collections.
The fabric’s characteristics
The visual impact is shiny, bright and glittery. A very thick jersey, Soft Lurex Schmid is an intertwinement of very compact and luminescent yarns. The reflections are metallic. The end result is a very popular fabric among leading designers because of its trendiness.
But one must not overlook the technical aspects: compactness and solidity are the two most appreciated features.
