Experience galore
Maria Vittoria Capocelli has a difficult task, as she has to analyse data and identify new business opportunities. She has a solid background in marketing and it was love at first sight for the fashion world. In this interview another one of Schmid’s “new faces” talks about her work
The world of fashion is made of details. The world of Maria Vittoria Capocelli, business development manager at Schmid, is also made of numbers. Her brief is to analyse business data to identify new opportunities in agreement with the company’s management. «From the analysis of this data stems leads for our sales managers regarding existing and potential clients». But her brief does not end there, as she tells us in this interview.
Maria Vittoria, can you tell us in details what you do?
«I am the liaison officer between the sales and production teams. I listen to the needs of our sales managers and I report them to the management. The main goal is to rapidly and accurately manage all the inputs received. I also take part in the company’s commercial and marketing control process, from the start and until we reach our objectives».
You have been working for Schmid for slightly more than a year. What struck you about the company?
«The drive. There is such a desire of change and everyone gives the most to contribute to and achieve the goals. In the past months I learnt lots of things that, despite my experience, I had never dealt with. I put the skills gained during my career at Schmid’s disposal and I’m very satisfied about that».
What are, in your opinion, your strengths?
«I worked for different companies, both for multinationals and smaller companies. That enabled me to experience different working methods and to meet lots of people. I learnt a lot over the years and I can claim to have strong skills not only in marketing but also in sales. I also believe to be an optimist and to always be upbeat, which never hurts».
One last question: what does it mean working in the fashion industry?
«I graduated in business administration at the university of Bologna and I never thought that I would have worked in this sector. A year ago, when my path crossed Schmid’s, I immediately understood that this experience could be very interesting. I still have that conviction each time I listen to designers and cool hunters discuss trends and materials. It’s an exciting world, there’s no doubt about it».
