Three ‘gems’ in the Schmid Spring Summer Collection 2016

This year, at the presentation of the Spring/Summer collection 2016, Schmid, the most popular Italian fabric converter, decided to offer two important new items in an innovative way – a ground-breaking, high-quality Trend book in terms of  contents, format, presentation and timing, and three ‘special’ products included in the collection not only for commercial purposes, but also to effectively show Schmid’s ability, unique in its sector, in creating products designed ad hoc according to the specifications of the leading fashion houses. This is the distinctive feature of the company: while the other Italian converters simply present to their customers existing fabrics, on which they often only do limited processing, Schmid is the only one in its sector to be able to create unique, special processing and make them available exclusively for its clientele.

Let’s start with the Trend book. The four main Trends towards which the fashion sector is moving were indicated since last September and, for each of these trends, the various products for the next Spring Summer were presented with the relative colour cards. The result is a very high-quality, very usable product, perfectly in line with the expectations, languages and themes studied by the main customers: the company is able to offer real proposals of products and materials of great interest and immediate availability. Subsequently, through the feedback collected last December and January, a collection of about 60 proposals has been designed and presented in Paris on  February 10th-12th  and in Milan on February 25th-27th. Each proposal has its own colour card specially developed for the features of the material and its purpose, created with the appropriate production specifications to make it available depending on the times of the main customers, that are often extremely short. It is certainly a unique, innovative result that is in line with the spirit animating all the company management and its philosphy: to be always ready to satisfy customers’ requirements by realizing both widely used products that are still of high quality and competitively priced and unique products in terms of image and quality, intended for the exclusive use of the leading names in the Italian and international fashion markets.

The list of products created exclusively by Schmid in more than 50 years of business is extraordinarily long and is worthy of separate discussion; some of these products, used by the leading fashion houses, have become true ‘icons’ in the footwear and leather worlds. As they can’t all be represented or shown in the collection, this year Schmid has included three products not intended for any particular customer, thus giving a real indication of its ability; it was a sort of challenge or intellectual entertainment aimed at highlighting a stylistic and creative ability unique in the sector – an embroidery on tulle, a macramé also on tulle with a lurex thread, and a macramé on a floral print satin. These unique products are worthy of the showcase of the leading fairs in the sector thanks to their particular nature. This is why they have had a special place in the exhibitions that Schmid has attended in Paris and Milan during February.
